[edit] Route description
State Highway 44 begins at an intersection with US-283 in the Quartz Mountains, near Lake Altus-Lugert. It heads northeast from this point, running on the east side of the river, to Lone Wolf, where it begins a three-mile concurrency with State Highway 9. SH-44 then heads north to Sentinel (where it meets SH-55) and to SH-152 near Burns Flat.
Near Foss it has an interchange with Interstate 40 (Interchange 53) before meeting State Highway 73 for a two-mile concurrency. SH-44 then runs along the east side of Foss Lake before ending at SH-33 near Butler.
