[edit] Category:Příbram

I'd removed Category:Příbram from several articles about people. The categories are not intended to serve as all-encompassing database tool but to show few most defining characteristics of a person and birthplace is rather far from it. I'd created Category:Czech local politicians for these. Pavel Vozenilek 13:19, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I am opposed to Your decision as the categories of People of the City are quite common in many other cities (compare for example Category:People from New York City, Category:People from Berlin, Category:Natives of Lyon and many others). Příbram is not a big city, so I don't think it is necessary to make independent category for the people with connection to Příbram. Anyway if this is a problem, I can make the category, which is - as You can see - usual.
I am open to discuss whether any individual article is needed to be categorized under Příbram, but I suppose that especially all the mayors of city (now Vacek, Fuksa and Řihák) and writer Jan Drda (born in Příbram, many of his books are directly connected to Příbram features like people or places) should be included in the category. I can understand, that for Dvořák or Týrlová their connection to Příbram was not so important, but on the contrary, it was important for Příbram itself.
Waiting for Your kind answer for a while before reverting.Okino 18:56, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Karel Opočenský

Hi Okino ! You are right, and I knew it when I have written an articule on him. Because of problem with writing rare letters like "ý" in English Wikipedia, and even protests of some wikipedists, I wrote "Opocensky" and then "Opočensky". All the best to you and a Happy New Year! Mibelz 20:50, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, it sounds strange to me as the official Wikipedia policies say something little bit different. See best: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (standard letters with diacritics), where the diacritics is acceptable, if the name has no other usual English version, English-language reliable publications use the diacritics version (...) and the character is printable. So I am not sure about the printability of "ý", but the problem should be the reliable sources. Anyway, the compromise version is probably the worst possible method, especially if not used in English-language publications.
I am waiting for your oppinion.Okino 21:58, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Snked logo.PNG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Snked logo.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Martinu 'The Greek Passion'

Hello, thanks for your kind note. I took a brief look at your Czech language article on the opera, and while obviously I cannot read it, I am sure that the content is very good. It is very kind of you to offer to translate your article into English. I can then try to combine your material with my material later. Obviously there is no great hurry, so you can take your time. I am starting to work on other short opera articles in the "opera stubs" listings, so that I have plenty to do. Let me know how you want to do this, and thanks, DJRafe 23:09, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
