Okene

Okene is a town in Kogi State, Nigeria. It is the home of the Ebira people of central Nigeria. The local language is Ebira. The 1991 census of Nigeria lists a population of 312,775 people living in Okene, 2007 estimates place it as high as 498,877.[1]

Okene is also the birthplace of Canadian major junior ice hockey player and National Hockey League prospect Akim Aliu.[2]
