Ohlhaussen

Ohlhausen is a German surname from the Baden-Wurttemburg region. The name has several variations but the origins are one of the oldest in Europe and can be traced back to 186 a.d. to its first mention in the Roman Census. The ancient town of Olnhausen, Germany near Heilbronn is still in existence.

Two meanings for the name are cited. The first meaning 'of the old house' giving reference that family had already been established some time before its first recorded mention. The second meaning cited is 'house of eels'. Several family crests bear a house and eels, which bear this out.
