Yeap, and I think it also takes the prize as the article nobody wanted to start because it's such a potentially huge subject. I'm happy you dove in. I was thinking of starting it myself if nobody else did by the end of the month. But I'm always happy to be beat to the punch. By the way, I've made sure that most (I think) articles that reference this subject are linking to this article now. I'm not sure if I caught them all, but I tried. [edit] Rainfall in Cairo

A statement in the second paragraph that doesn't ring true. Either a fact wrong, or there is need for disambiguation. This statement says "The average rainfall in Cairo is four and a half inches per year." That certainly is not true of Cairo, Illinois (which seems to be one of the subjects of this article). Cairo, IL is about half way between St. Louis and Memphis. According to WorldClimate.com, the annual rainfall in St. Louis is about 37 inches per year [1], and in Memphis about 52 inches per year [2]. Both of those values are an order of magnitude more than the quoted value. If the correct intention is to refer to the rainfall in Egypt, the statement seems to be out of place in this article. If the intention is to state the average rainfall in Illinois, then the value is wrong. If someone can explain the intention of the statement, I'd be glad to make a correction. I just did the math, and given that U.S. copyright law makes content in copyrighted publications expire after 75 years, all the newspaper images of the flood will become available in the late winter of 2012. Just a head's up. :) Stevie is the man! ^{Talk • Work} 17:32, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

I've never heard of the Rose Island amusement park, but there is a discrepancy between this article, which places it in Louisville, and the Rose Island article which places it in Indiana... Crocadillion 02:25, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I made a correction. It's directly across the river from Louisville in Southern Indiana. It's inside the Louisville metro area, and thus that's why it gets discussed in the Kentucky section. Stevie is the man! ^{Talk • Work} 02:49, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
