State Route 588 is an east-west state highway in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Its western terminus is at State Route 325 in Rio Grande, and its eastern terminus is at State Route 7 in Gallipolis.

- 1954 – Original route certified; originally routed from Rodney to Gallipolis[2].
- 1993 – Extended to Rio Grande along a previous alignment of U.S. Route 35 (which was the former State Route 11 before 1935)[2].
