- 1924 - original route established[2]; route was originally from 2 miles north of Edon to 12 miles east of Fremont along current route 49 from 2 miles north of Edon to Edon, route 34 from Edon to 15 miles east of Bryan, route 6 from 15 miles east of Bryan to 3 miles west of Fremont, unnumbered roads through Fremont, and route 412 from 3 miles east of Fremont to 12 miles east of Fremont. - 1926 - 2 miles north of Edon to Edon certified as route 49 [3]; route 34 rerouted from Edon to Indiana state line along previous unnumbered road [3]; Fremont to 12 miles east of Fremont certified as route 12 [3]; route 34 Truncated at Fremont. [3]
- 1932 - Bryan to Fremont certified as route 6 [3]; route 34 Truncated at Bryan. [3]
- 1959 - Extended 15 miles eastward along previous route 6. [3]
