The Ohio Bell Telephone Company is the Bell Operating Company serving most of Ohio. They are a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc.
Their headquarters are the Ohio Bell Building at 750 Huron Road, Cleveland, Ohio. It is not affiliated with Cincinnati Bell, which serves Cincinnati and surrounding communities.
After the 1984 Bell System Divestiture, Ohio Bell became a part of Ameritech, one of the seven original Regional Holding Companies. The Ohio Bell name continued to be used until January 1993, when Ameritech dropped all of their individual Bell Operating Company names in favor of using the corporate name for marketing purposes.
In 2002, SBC dropped the Ameritech name in favor of "SBC" as a national brand. On January 15, 2006, Ohio Bell's legal name was changed to The Ohio Bell Telephone Company d/b/a AT&T Ohio.
After being held by AT&T (pre-1984), Ameritech, and SBC, as of 2005, they are now part of the "new" AT&T.
