Am glad to help, if I can. I teach courses at the Faculty of Information Sciences (tucked away in the northern part of the Robarts Library building) as part of their Professional Learning Centre. I have contacts there who are full-time UofT employees, and may be able to pull a few strings if needs be. And for the record, I am a Queen's multi-grad. ;-) Captmondo 14:59, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: Wood Thrush

No, I won't take the credit for a GA sweep on Wood Thrush. You should take the credit for that one, seeing as you did it. I'll just be glad that the article was done well. Corvus coronoides talk 18:34, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Anaerobic digestion featured article nomination

Hi Ohana, thanks for the previous support getting anaerobic digestion to good article status. I have continued to work on the piece adding pictures and further information. I have now also put the article through a peer review and have addressed the issues that have been raised. I have now gone on to self nominate the article for consideration as a featured article. Please take a minute to look at this here Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/Anaerobic_digestion leaving feedback where relevant. Many thanks --Alex 12:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello

Hello. You approved The Preuss School UCSD for GA article status several months ago. I have since put considerable work into and listed it for a peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review/The Preuss School UCSD. If you have the time, your contributions there would be appreciated. Cheers, SorryGuy 21:28, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

admin

Hey. I've seen you around and was wondering if you'd be willing to consider adminship, as I'd certainly nom you at WP:RFA. Let me know of your decision. Wizardman 02:32, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

No problem, just lemme know when you're ready. Wizardman 02:43, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Just asking one quick question since it'll probably be asked at RfA. Do you know the difference between a block and a ban? Wizardman 21:00, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Yes, I went and read your question. You kinda have the idea down, for a more accurate answer (and for the reason why I'm asking in the first place), see here. The second question is no problem, you don't have to be a vandal patroller to be an admin. Wizardman 12:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

And to answer your question, if you're not really going to go into blocking then it's not too big a deal, don't worry. Just as long as you know what you're going to do with the tools. Wizardman 18:48, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Not advertising.

Check the site out for youself before you blindly acuse people of advertising. What's the difference between informing people of the new Runescape beta and informing them of the German language beta. The release date is still being determined for it, ad the beta is free, usually advertisements would cost the person targeted. Also, the entire RuneScape community is affected by this news, because if it comes out that means better graphics and interface for everyone who plays it. If you take a look at the website this is for real news and as such the Runescape community should be informed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pyroraptor70 (talkcontribs) 04:53, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

User:Darano

Just FYI, that I've switched the template into {{sockpuppet|Maplefan|confirmed}} in User:Darano. This is because the sockpuppet is not itself a puppetmaster, instead just a sock of someone else, User:Maplefan in this case. ~Iceshark7 09:45, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

RfA

Good luck on your RfA! You handled that Maplefan/Darano nonsense spectacularly, and you've got my !vote. ^_^ DEVS EX MACINA pray 06:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Your running for Admin? Well, lemme find it and give ya some support. I think you derserve it. --Jump! Slash! Dash! Ouch! Super Mario SonicBOOM! 15:35, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I think you deserve this:

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For your tireless efforts protecting the Runescape and Maplestory articles, and in peticular for helping to keep Maplefan and his various puppets under control, I reward you with this. Jump! Slash! Dash! Ouch! Super Mario SonicBOOM! 16:02, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I was stuck between giving you and Captain the half Barnstars or both one of these, but I felt these made better sense.

User:Professional Deletionist => User:Snakese

In your RfA, you've mentioned the User:Snakese account was created a few days ago, however the account is a continuation of User:Professional Deletionist. The user appears to be continuing to oppose every single RfA, however I'm confident that you are going to pass. Any chance of answering Q4 or adjusting your response to Q1, so that I can switch to support without losing face? Addhoc 19:02, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of basic geography topics

I have a question for you. I've implemented almost all the suggestions concerning this nominated list. I don't have any more time to give right now, so a final decision on this nomination needs to be made. I'm not sure how the evaluation of consensus works in this department. Is there enough support for the list to be granted the star? The Transhumanist 00:45, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

GlassCobra's "racist" comment on LaraLove's RfA

User:GlassCobra just compared Lara to a racist in her RfA (see [1]). I find this comment highly offensive and, since it just occurred within the last few hours, feel it should be considered by editors before GlassCobra's RfA is closed at the end of the day at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/GlassCobra. As such, I have requested a delay in the closing of Cobra's RfA. Since you've been involved in this discussion over so-called ageism, I'd also suggest you voice your opinion on Cobra's RfA. Best,--Alabamaboy 12:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I've explained my reasoning and thought process, and Alabamaboy has reconsidered. Would you perhaps think about reconsidering your vote as well? Thanks! GlassCobra 19:40, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I've gotten the data corrected to in-universe style and I've added some out-of-universe things there. Can you glance at the headers in the page? That's all that needs to be checked, I think. Your RFA was unsuccessful

I have closed your RFA. I'm afraid there was no consensus to promote you. Please address the concerns that were raised, and feel free to reapply in the future. Good luck. --Deskana (talk) 14:04, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Aww. :-( Better luck next time, mate. In fairness, you did get one of the tougher set of questions I've seen in an RFA. CaptainVindaloo t c e 16:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi Ohana,
I'm so sorry your RFA was unsuccessful, and that my neutral !vote was one of the deciding factors for several individuals. I just couldn't in good conscience support when I felt there were still lingering issues about the blocking/banning policy. If you'd like, we can discuss this and other issues on your coaching page, or if you'd like to take a break for a while, that's fine too.
I hope this RFA doesn't affect your otherwise excellent contributions to the encyclopedia, and as CV correctly states above, you really did get some hard questions thrown at you. Firsfron of Ronchester 16:41, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I hope you understand that there was nothing personal in my switch, first from support to neutral, then from neutral to oppose. As I delved deeper into your answers--and into Firsfron's concerns--I just felt there were some policy issues where your apparent confusion could potentially cause harm to the project. Please know that I would be more than willing to support should these areas be addressed. Best regards, K. Scott Bailey 19:42, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
All the best for the future mate! I'm sure you'll make a great admin somewhere down the line, but I felt it wasn't right now. Keep at it! :) Cheers, Spawn Man 01:17, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
That's too bad, really. I honestly thought that you'd make a fine admin. Ah well, keep it up and try again in a few months. Be sure to let me know when you give it another shot; I'll be there to support as soon as I can. ----Jump! Slash! Dash! Ouch! Super Mario SonicBOOM! 13:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Even after our disagreements in the past, i thought you would make a good admin, even if your answers were not very sturdy. Good luck next time. Woodym555 14:19, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Portal:Military of Greece

Hey, I'd like you to reconsider your closing of this. Mainly on the issues of "objections considered actionable have not been resolved". (I redid the intro to Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates to coincide more with FAC.) There are a number of things that weren't even attempted to fix, and a few things marked as done, were not in fact(or not correctly/completely). If you do decide to keep it as promoted, I have no problem with that, but please follow the closing directions. Namely updateing Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Featured log, Template:Featured portal log, Wikipedia:Featured content/Portals, and Wikipedia:Goings-on. Thanks. Joe I 08:56, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Both pages are in sync. I went thru Wikipedia:Featured content/Portals a couple of weeks ago. There are(were) 76 featured portals, all reflected on each page. You didn't address my concerns over the promotion of Portal:Military of Greece, which was my main intention. Joe I 03:46, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

My (Remember the dot)'s RfA

Thanks For Clearing Things Up

I never did work with the GA wikiproject before so I was not clear with the structures. Thanks for pointing out that only invited users can do sweeps (only after you said so did I notice the whole section devoted to it). Parent5446(Murder me for my actions) 22:21, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

GA newsletter

I haven't really started it yet, but will probably work on it in the next two weeks. If you'd like to help, that would be great. Any parts that you'd like to work on? I'm thinking I'd like to include an explanation into how to properly format {{GA}} and {{ArticleHistory}} templates, which is sorely needed. Much of the stuff in the left column (november issue) is basic facts and figures, so there's not too much actual writing to do. Also, with no lack of respect to Canadian Paul, I'm kind of hoping that someone else (besides me or him) gets GAN Reviewer of the Week the next two weeks; since he was reviewer of the month, it would be nice to focus someone else – and I've already gotten enough exposure myself, too! ;-) Dr. Cash 06:21, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Request for Comment about Problem

Hi OhanaUnited, can you please take a look this discussion in reference to images that were uploaded from WWII in Color website, the copyright status is in question and there have been many users who are part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Aircraft who are upset about the Wiki Policy about image licensing WP:IUP. Thank you! -TabooTikiGod 06:27, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't think I'll be one of the best people to answer this problem because image policy is not specialty and I'm not a member of WikiProject Aviation. OhanaUnitedTalk page 07:18, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just saw the note you left on my talk page. I'm glad to hear that my remarks on this subject persuaded you of its importance, and that you plan to make a start on an article in the near future -- fantastic! I'm hoping that perhaps one other person will also join us in writing this article. I'm going to post your reply at the WP:WPE talk page so other editors will know that you're onboard (which might increase the likelihood of somebody deciding to join in). RfA for Canadian Paul

Image:Arnold Schwarzenegger 2004-01-30.jpg

Four years ago this day, a foreigner was voted by the community to serve a land that he loved. Today, a new foreigner humbly accepts the charge and support of serving a community that he loves. Hopefully, he won't disappoint.

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (47/0/1). The trust bestowed upon me by the community is one of the most touching honours that I have ever received, and I vow not to let you down. Whether you have suggestions for ways in which I could improve, a request for assistance or just need someone to listen, my talk page and my email are always open. I pledge to do what I can to help this project, in the words of a man who needs no introduction, "make the internet not suck." A special thank you goes out to Tim Vickers for nominating me. Cheers, CP 23:01, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
