Oh-OK

Oh-OK was an American musical group, based around Linda Hopper and Lynda Stipe. Other members included drummers David McNair, David Pierce and guitarist Matthew Sweet. They only recorded twice as a group, but gained significant national attention. Stipe formed the band when her brother, Michael Stipe of R.E.M., needed a backing band for a show at the 40 Watt Club. The band released a 7" in 1982, another in 1983, and broke up the following year.

Sweet and Pierce formed the short-lived Buzz of Delight before the former embarked on a successful solo career. Hopper made a name for herself fronting Magnapop. Stipe became the lead singer of Hetch Hetchy under the name Lynda L. Limner; she also played cello in Flash to Bang Time[1]. In 2002, a compilation of their recordings, Complete Oh-Ok, was released by Collector's Choice Records, with liner notes by Robert Christgau. The band reunited for a one-time concert at the 40 Watt Club as part of the 2006 Athens Popfest.
