Talk:Oglebay Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Not that this really adds anything to the article (hence why I'm on the Talk page), but when I was a kid, the thing I remembered most about Oglebay Park was the indoor swimming pool, which had a tropical theme and a (plastic) rock wall with two waterfalls in the kiddie section. I just thought it was the coolest thing. Eventually, they stopped running the waterfalls, but I'm not sure why. --Birdhombre 01:50, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
Birdhombre: When was this? I grew up in Wheeling and don't remember an indoor pool there at all. Where was it located? --MarkMascolino 08:30, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't mean the pool was at the "park" itself; it was part of the Wilson Lodge, and I think the outdoor pool was right outside the big glass windows. I haven't been there in a few years, so I can't remember exactly. --Birdhombre 17:28, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
The indoor pool is still there, but is (as far as I know) only available for use by lodge guests unless you buy a pass. It has been a few years, but I think that that is still the policy. The outdoor pool is located at the Pine Room, a building separate from Wilson Lodge. The Pine Room is near the tennis courts and Crispin golf course (which operates out of the Pine Room building)Morganismysheltie 22:11, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good Zoo SSPs
Since I work at the zoo, I know that the zoo claims to participate in SSP programs. I cannot find anything on AZA's Conservation Programs Database[1] regarding the Good Zoo. Should I still include it in the article? Morganismysheltie 00:30, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- Dear "Morganismysheltie," you do not work at the zoo. You are a teen volunteer. Please be very careful when writing things about the zoo without permission. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to our beloved zoo, but most things written about the zoo must be reviewed first by our PR department. You're not in trouble, just please make sure to be careful on here. We certainly don't want any of our volunteers getting into a bad situation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ohiovalley (talk|contribs) 22:25, 18 April 2007 (UTC).

- Sorry about that, I should have known. Whoever you are, you have my sincere apologies. user:Morganismysheltie (from a public computer)

- Actually, Wikipedia isn't under the jurisdiction of the zoo's PR department, so Morganismysheltie doesn't need approval to add factual information here. Perhaps you have some internal policies that would prohibit an employee or volunteer from editing Wikipedia, on or off the clock, but that would only apply because Morganismysheltie mentioned working at the zoo. Wikipedia certainly doesn't want to scare off conscientious editors who want to improve articles! --Birdhombre 20:22, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
And I didn't say they couldn't. Many of our teen volunteers, however, have publically written things about the zoo in the past, and gotten into a good deal of trouble for their poor behavior. We are actually very proud of this particular teen volunteer and I was only looking out for his best interest for his own protection in the program. Many people on staff have read this article and applauded his work. Thank you for your concern. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ohiovalley (talk • contribs) 03:24, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Copyvio
A large section was pasted in from here and because it violated copyright it has been removed. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 04:46, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Golf tournament add?
What's the deal with that huge add about the Baka Memorial Golf Tourney? I understand that golf is a huge part of culture at the park , but is there some way we could integrate that into a smaller section? There are MANY sporting events at the park, and if we add a new section for every one, the article will soon have more about sports and less about the park itself. Any suggestions? Morganismysheltie 03:49, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
I did not find anything on the Oglebay's Calendar of Events [2] about the "Baka Memorial Golf Tournament". Unless it was in January through early April, it may not exist, but I have no proof of that. Morganismysheltie 04:09, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
