Can someone provide a referance for the stars distance? I've seen it quoted as 20 thousand, 25 thousand, and 28 thousand light years.

The distance is clearly stated as 21,500 light years according to the table List of stars with confirmed extrasolar planets. That makes it the farthest planet from earth.--W8IMP 04:46, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OGLE-2005-BLG-390

Maybe it would be better to make this an article on the OGLE-2005-BLG-390 event rather than just one component of the lensing system, since not much data is known. The Nature article gives some properties of the lensing source star (according to the designation system the discoverers used, this would be OGLE-2005-BLG-390S), which is apparently a G4III giant star at 8.5 kpc (which is presumably where the 28000 light year figure came from). I'm sorry, but does anybody else feel that saying that a star "masses" 0.22 M_sun sounds too strange? I'm afraid this is not a common usage. On the whole, I believe the opening sentece is a bit strange; maybe we should remove some of the details to make it more readable and clear. Leschatz 14:43, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

If anyone has the luminosity for this star putting it on here would be great. it is a key element for calculating this star's Habitable Zone radius, which is especially important due to the fact that OGLE-2005-BLG-390L-B conforms to several criteria to make it a habitable planet (is similar in size to Earth ect). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 211.28.230.16 (talk) 10:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC).

Since OGLE-2005-BLG-390L is quite faint and close in sky position to the much brighter observed source star of the microlensing event, the luminosity of the former cannot be measured at the moment. You can find probability distributions for some basic properties of OGLE-2005-BLG-390L and its planet, OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb, in our web documentation [1], where another figure, prepared by my colleague Jean-Philippe Beaulieu, shows the magnitude contrast between source and lens star. The reddening-corrected magnitude and colours of the source star, presumably at a distance of about 8.5 kpc, are (V-I)_0 = 0.85, I_0 = 14.25 and (V-K)_0 = 1.9. 20:00, 13 April 2007 (UTC) Martin Dominik, member of discovery team
