Ogden, West Yorkshire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ogden otherwise known as the 'Kingdom of Ogden' in West Yorkshire is a small hamlet to the north of Halifax. Its most recognisable landmarks are a wind farm, which can be seen from as far as Scammonden reservoir near Huddersfield; a golf course, which offers views of the surrounding moorland; and Ogden reservoir, around which are footpaths for visitors to walk and view the local wildlife. More recently the area has become known for its nightlife, and has become a famous tourist attraction as the birthplace of poet, writer and artist Séan Walsh (friend of the Brontë sisters) who lived in the area from 1802 to 1872.
