Oflag VIII-E Johannisbrunn

Oflag VIII-E Johannisbrunn was a World War II German ] POW camp for Allied generals during World War II. It was located in the spa town of Jánské Koupele in the Czechoslovakian part of Silesia. The camp was built in October 1940 to house approximately 70 Allied generals and their aides. Among those officers imprisoned were: 30 from Poland, 30 from France, 9 from Netherlands, 1 from United Kingdom (Brig. Nigel Somerset) and 1 Colonel from Norge.

  • Gen.Maj. Johann Janusz.

April 27, 1942, all Polish generals were separated from their comrades and transferred to other camps, mostly to Oflag VII-A Murnau.
