From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ode to the Republic of China (simplified Chinese: 中华民国颂, traditional Chinese: 中華民國頌,pinyin: Zhōnghuá Mínguó Sòng) is a patriotic song of the Republic of China. It was written by Liu Jiachang (刘家昌). First singer is Fei Yuqing, Deng Lijun also sing this song.

This song also appeared in Mainland China(include Hong Kong, Macau), first singer is Hongkong singer Zhang Mingmin, just use "Chinese Peoples"(simplified Chinese: 中华民族, traditional Chinese: 中華民族,pinyin: Zhōnghuá Mínzú) instead of "Republic of China" in the lyrics, only substitute one character and the tune of these two words is the same (second tune,第二声), so it hasn't any influnce in music but can accepted by Mainland.

Now, this song have 2 versions, one is "Republic of China", the origin version, another is "Chinese Peoples", singer will sing different version regards the politic situation of the hosts.(e.g. "Republic of China" in Taiwan, "Chinese Peoples" in Hong Kong)

[edit] English Translation

Qinghai's grasslands are vast, the eye cannot see their end

The Himalayan Mountains', peaks link unto the horizon

Old gods and ancients, here laid their home and hearth

The wind blows and storm rains fall, yet still after five thousand years

Republic of China, Republic of China (1)

Overcomes any struggle,

Only the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers' waters flow undiminished

Republic of China, Republic of China (1)

Forever and ever, will always be

(repeat once)

Note:

  • 1. When this song sung in Mainland China, this line is replaced with "Chinese Peoples, Chinese Peoples"
