ODCNMS for Open DataCenter Network Management System is a free open source project developed under the open source model. It that makes it possible to manage at network level a DataCenter. You can manage locations (rack, patch panel, port), customers, networks (subnet, ip address, vlan), devices (slot, interface), etc ...
A DataCenter is composed of different elements:
- Physics: locations, racks, patch panels, cables
- Network: switches, routers, firewalls, etc... ;
- System: application servers, backup servers, mail servers etc...;
- Logics: customers, VLANs, network, subnet, IP addresses.
Those different elements are managed by Network Engineer and System Administrator by many ways:
- Numerous Spreadsheet documents;
- IP addresses management software: IP Plan.
ODCNMS combines those entire elements's information for a centralized management. ODCNMS allows for example a network engineer to localise a device in a rack, to find all customers associated with a device or a subnet, to find free IP address space across an IP range, to display overlapping IP address space between networks, etc...
