October 26: National Day in Austria (1955); Angam Day in Nauru 1597 – Imjin War: About twelve Korean ships commanded by Admiral Yi Sun-sin defeated a large Japanese invasion fleet of at least 300 at the Battle of Myeongnyang in the Myeongnyang Strait. 1881 – The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral took place in Tombstone, Arizona, USA between the Wyatt Earp faction and Ike Clanton's gang. 1937 – Second Sino-Japanese War: Xie Jinyuan and his 'Lone Battalion' of Chinese soldiers began the Defense of Sihang Warehouse (pictured) against waves of Japanese attackers during the Battle of Shanghai. 1944 – World War II: In one of the largest naval battles in modern history, Allied forces defeated the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the seas surrounding the Philippine island of Leyte. 2001 – U.S. President George W. Bush signed the USA PATRIOT Act into law, significantly expanding the authority of U.S. law enforcement agencies in fighting terrorism in the United States and abroad. I was recently perusing this page because I was making the Template anniversaries page for this article. Some things I noticed:

• This page says the International Federation of the Red Cross was formed in 1863. But the article says it was 1919. When was it?
• This page says that Boulder Dam's first generator went online October 26. But the article says October 9. When was it?
• This page says that Jordan and Israel signed a peace treaty in October 1994. History of Jordan says it was in July 1994. If there were two treaties, then I have to wonder why... If there was one, when did it occur?

So, can the people who added these to the article provide cites? LuckyWizard 01:14, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

"2006 - Mayré Martínez wins the first Latin American Idol." I know people take this show very seriously but is this really notable? -- Borameer ™ 17:01, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

• Probably notable in the context of TV game shows and the like, so if there is a chronology page for that genre then it would be fine there. But very not-notable in the general history of the world. Darcyj 11:42, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
