[edit] Change back to redirect?
It looks to me like the vast majority of Octavian wikilinks intend to point to the emperor rather than the Pope. So, I would like to change Octavian back to a redirect, and put a tag (like {{Otherpeople}}) on the emperor page. Thanks for the heads' up. My concern is that the following pages could also be added to the disambig page:
- Augustus
- Octavian_Goga
- Gaius_Octavian_(character_of_Rome)
- Octavian_Belu
- Lucky_Octavian
- Octavian_Utalea
- Octavian_Florescu
- Pope_John_XII -XII not XIII
- Octavian_Chihaia
- Octavian_Belu
- Octavian_Goga
and maybe:
So, I'd rather expand the disambig page to include all of the articles with Octavian in the title, rather than simply make one redirect. You'd have to put the otherpeople tag at least 9 times on each of these pages. SkierRMH 09:09, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- That is a good observation - obviously there are more notable people named Octavian than I thought. However, it appears to remain true that most people who create a wikilink to Octavian intend to link to the Augustus article - I verified this by checking "what links here". So, to address your point and to avoid the the dab link repair project having to fix Octavian links incessantly, I suggest creating an Octavian (disambiguation) page with all the Octavians you list. We could then change Octavian back to a redirect to Augustus, and the Augustus article would have a tag at the top saying, "For other people named Octavian, please see Octavian (disambiguation). Does that work for you?--Kubigula (talk) 15:19, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
