Octávio Machado (born May 6, 1949) is a Portuguese football player and coach.

A defensive midfielder, he was a leading player for Vitória de Setúbal and F.C. Porto during the 1970's, winning two National Champion titles.

He had 20 caps for the National Team, 10 for both Vitória de Setúbal and F.C. Porto, scoring 2 goals. His first appearance was at 21 November 1971, in a 1-1 tie with Belgium, for the Euro Cup qualifyings, and his last one, at 29 October 1977, was a 1-1 tie with Poland, for the World Cup qualifyings.

After finishing his football career, he went to become an assistant coach to Artur Jorge, with whom he joined F.C. Porto in 1984/85. He went to win two National Championship titles in a row, and the European Champions Cup in 1987. He was Artur Jorge's assistant trainer until the 1990's, when he finally became a leading trainer. He was the coach for teams like Sporting Clube de Portugal and F.C. Porto.

After his long experience in professional football, he started a private business activity in agriculture, and was involved in local politics in his hometown Palmela.
