OCSW

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The OCSW (Objective Crew Served Weapon) is U.S Military arms progam started in the 1980s that lead to a hybrid smaller prototype automatic autocannon developed by General Dynamics Armament Systems. It lead to the XM312 and XM307 designs.

As a part of the SAMP (Small Arms Master Plan) program, it has the same laser-guided targeting system as the XM29 OICW, but is intended supplement the 40mm Mk 19 grenade launcher and the .50 M2 Browning machine gun. It can fire armor piercing or explosive 25mm grenades at a cyclic rate of 260 rounds per minute, and has an effective range up to 2 kilometers. The OCSW development cycle is not yet complete, and no date has been set for production. It has however gone on combat trials.
