From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ockbrook School is an Independent School located in the village of Ockbrook on the outskirts of Derby. The school now admits only day pupils although, until very recently, it also provided boarding facilities.
The school was founded in 1799 by the Moravian Church and still maintains a Christian ethos.
The school is for girls aged 3-18 and boys aged 3-11, being made up of a Nursery, Primary Department, Senior Department and Sixth Form. Pupils are mainly admitted at the ages of 3, 5, 11 and 16. Prospective pupils ages 11-16 are required to sit an entrance exam.
A history of the school was published in 2000 as part of the bicentenary celebrations (1799-1999): Bold Shall I Stand by James Muckle, published by the school, ISBN 0953660001.
The school has a heated indoor swimming pool which is claimed to be the oldest in England still in use at a school.
