[edit] Tioga
Can you explain why the link to Tioga in the Cornplanter article is the wrong Tioga? BradMajors (talk) 17:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- The Tioga that Hartley burned is Tioga Point, at the confluence of the Chemung and Susquehanna Rivers in present-day Athens, Pennsylvania. It was a well-known Indian encampment, sometimes used interchangeably with "Queen Esther's Town", and was the staging area for the later Sullivan Expedition. It most definitely is not the present-day Tioga, New York, the link to which I deleted. Oceangod8 (talk) 18:17, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks. Would it then make sense to change the article to refer to "Tioga Point" rather than "Tioga" to avoid confusion? (and a couple of other Revolutionary War articles that mention Tioga). BradMajors (talk) 18:58, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

- Yes, it would. I'm surprised there's no entry for "Tioga Point", since it has so many historical links. Perhaps I'll give it a shot. Oceangod8 (talk) 20:16, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
