From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Below is a list of current Oceania Swimming Championship records as ratified by the Oceania Swimming Association. There have been six Oceania Swimming Championships to date. The Championships were first held in Nouméa, New Caledonia in 1993, then subsequently held in Brisbane, Australia in 1997, Christchurch, New Zealand in 2000, Nouméa again in 2002, Suva, Fiji in 2004 and Cairns, Australia in 2006. The seventh edition of the Championships is once again to be held Christchurch in June 2008.

Of the 38 events, Australia currently holds records in 20 of them, New Zealand 17 and Papua New Guinea 1.

Going into the 2008 Championships, only two records set at the inaugual Championships still stood — Daniel Kowalski's 15:29.32 in 1500 metre freestyle and Rebecca Brown's 2:28.24 in 200 metre breaststroke. On the first night of finals Australia's Theodore Pasialis broke Kowalski's 14 year old record, which now makes Brown's breaststroke performace the oldest on record.
