[edit] Maya calendar
this is really stupid to put the mayan calendar on this list since it is use world wide by millions, it may officaly be obsolete but that will be changing in the next 7 years — 68.144.145.182 12:14, 5 October 2005
- Thanks. The Maya calendar is still used by all Maya Indians in Mesoamerica—only its Long Count is no longer used. I am removing it from the category. — Joe Kress 04:37, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Merging with Category:Specific calendars
Whaddaya think about merging this category with the category "Specific calendars"? (And, how do you insert a link to a Category:?) There are a few calendars on that list that may be considered "obsolete," too, and I'd think it'd be easy enough for users to determine for themselves which may be obsolete. Even the French Republican Calendar mentioned here might not be considered obsolete--the main article states that "Some enthusiasts in France still use the calendar, more out of historical re-enactment than practicality. Some legal texts that were adopted when the Republican Calendar was official are still in force in France and have kept their original dates for citation purposes."
