From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oblong may refer to:
- A geometrical figure longer than wide, such as a non-square rectangle
- A term for leaf shape
- Angus Oblong, American author and actor
- Oblong, Illinois, a village in the United States
- The Oblong, a historic tract of land in Dutchess County, New York, in the United States
- An Oblong is also a rare fruit grown in the heat of Cuba- very few exports are given as the sweet flavoured fruit is a rare sight to behold. It appears to have seeds ranging from 5 to 13 in the quarter supporting the backbone. Oblongs are grown on the tall mango-like trees, which makes them so rare as only few remain on earth. If you ever see an Oblong please take a picture before you eat it!

The archetypical oblong shape is a circle cut in half and extended via straight lines between the previously-connected endpoints of the semicircles; the result is not an ellipse, but a different form of "stretched circle".
