This is my talkpage. I don't visit English Wikipedia too often (about one time per 1-2 days), so if you need to contact me urgently, feel free to edit my Russian Wikipedia talk page, or email to obersachse@googlemail.com.
If you write me, you'll receive an answer here. If I write you, I will watch your talkpage for several days.
I noticed you were new, and wanted to share some links I thought useful:

[edit] Location map
Thank you, Thomas! I should have probably checked back on that thread after I watchlisted it :)—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 13:10, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Two points. (1) position=top and position=bottom don't seem to work anymore. (2) your test-case for Infobox City isn't valid, since the Location map template is embedded within the Infobox City template. You need to create a test-case Infobox City which contains your Template:Location map/Temp . Cheers. (Caniago 17:29, 24 March 2007 (UTC))
[edit] Location map USA
This does not seem to be working correctly. It places the dot in the Gulf of Mexico. —MJCdetroit 20:55, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I see. Somebody has changed the Template:Location map. See the example in ruwiki ru:Лас-Вегас (Невада) or dewiki (de:Las Vegas). There's the same Location map USA. -Obersachse 21:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Russian raion maps
Obersachse - I've added a section to my Map gallery HERE. As I complete the maps, I will add them to my gallery here on English wiki (as well as on Commons). If you have any input on the format, colors, etc. from WikiProject Russia, let me know. Otherwise I will use the standard pastels and such that I've used on many other administrative level maps. [edit] Ланго
Здравствуйте, буду вам очень признателен если вы переведете небольшую статью об искусственном языке ланго на немецкий язык. Надеюсь, мое предложение вас заинтересует. Статья: [1]. — Flavis 25 марта 2007.
[edit] location maps
Would you consider dual licensing your edits to {{location map}} and related template under the cc-by 2.5? This way I could use them on the english wikinews. Happy editing. Bawolff 01:15, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- Of course! Feel free to use my wikipedia-contributions for whatever You want. Choose the license, that allows you to use my work as free and comfortable as possible. --Obersachse 05:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Offensive username
??? No account with this name exists in the English Wikipedia. Yours was the only edit to the userpage. Did you land on this name from another wiki, perhaps? Anyway, I speedied the page. [edit] Вопрос
Оберзаксе, а что именно, на жизни, означает шаблон WikimediaAllLicensing? И есть ли аналог в рувики? - Zac Allan 13:22, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Пусть Wikimedia Foundation делает с моим трудом что хочет. Аналога "у нас" не знаю. --Obersachse 13:56, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh you reverted me as if I'm some vandal did you? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 10:00, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't think you're a vandal. That's why I informed you. Whit a vandal I wouldn't waste my time. --Obersachse (talk) 18:31, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Since when have blue and green been an "awful" combination? Green for the land and blue for the sea is a lot closer than having the land as beige (unless the article is on the sahara desert of course). ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 10:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

- Please have a look at the other location maps. They are more neutral. The most importand thing are the border and the location of the point. Other stuff gives additional information, but should not catch the eye. That is what I mean with "awful combination". The blue sea and the green forest is not the most important information on location maps. For geographical or topographical maps the colour is important, but not here. --Obersachse (talk) 18:31, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Russian WP and Irish towns
I've taken the liberty of informing the folks at the WikiProject Ireland of your interest in the naming process for these articles. I hope that's not a problem for you.
As you indicated, the naming/language issue in Ireland is sometimes fraught with conflicts. Often, issues of sovereignty and relations with England are inextricably involved in the discussion. Strong opinions are held and it can be difficult to get agreement. Anglicizing place names is a way of both internationalizing as well as erasing local language and culture.
On the English Wikipedia, the current convention is to put the town under the Anglicized name with the Irish language version at the top in the lede. However, a different language WP like Russian means it doesn't have to follow English WP convention. Actually, a very good argument can be made that another language WP should go with the native language version of the town name, not the Anglicized version. I suspect what you really need is more input on the matter to hash it out.
I'm going to drop a message to Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland/Gaeilge as well because they will undoubtedly be interested in this discussion. Cheers, Pigman☿ 20:39, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! --Obersachse (talk) 09:03, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Personally, I'd recommend using both the English and Irish - why leave one out? That way someone who wants to learn either name can do so - and they might actually be able to find some places if they come here ;-) Regards, BastunBaStun not BaTsun 17:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Of course, in the body of the article we will do so. But the name of the article can't include both names. --Obersachse (talk) 17:07, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Obersachse, I think you understood what I meant. I certainly didn't mean to suggest that the Anglicized form should be excluded from the body of the article, and was only referring to the primary heading/title/article name. Cheers, Pigman☿ 17:49, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- May be I misunderstood you. Did you suggest sometink like Galway / Gaillimh as the article name? --Obersachse (talk) 19:15, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] LT location map
Hello, could you please change the map in the {{Location map Lithuania}} with this one? Thank you very much. Renata (talk) 17:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've created Template:Location map Lithuania2. Each of the maps has pluses and minuses. Lithuania2 is more pretty, but the neighbors are not shown. That's why a haven't changed the image in the existing template. --Obersachse (talk) 08:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you... but I think something is wrong. Please compare Varėna and where the dot shows up in the infobox and this map, and I am sure the coordinates in the article are correct. Any clues? Renata (talk) 04:47, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'll check it. --Obersachse (talk) 08:49, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Any progress? Clues? I tried looking at it but with my rudimentary understanding of coordinates I did not get anywhere. Renata (talk) 20:40, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I'm still searching the bug. It seems, that the map is wrong, but I'm not sure, on which area. --Obersachse (talk) 09:48, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gaelic and Russian
Hey, sorry for such a late reply, I have been really busy with university and haven't checked the talk page on Irish wikipedia in a long time. Yes, I am Ice201 old name (now: Girdi) and I do speak Russian and I forgot much Irish, but I still know the pronunciation well. I spent a few weeks in Gaeltacht area in Ireland last summer and spoke only in Irish half of the time. So I can definitely help you out with Cyrillic translations. I spend most of my time on Chechen wikipedia and I find it a lot of fun transcripting over to cyrillic from latin and arabic. :D Let me know what you need help with! --Girdi (talk) 20:43, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. We are planning a bot-made creation of articles about irish towns on the base of the english ones. Our problem is the transcription of the original irish (not the english) names of the towns. Here is the list:ru:Википедия:Проект:Ирландия/Список --Obersachse (talk) 08:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
