[edit] When? Did the obelisk sit in some warehouse between 10 BC and AD 17 before it was erected?

In the first paragraph, the article says, "Brought to Rome with the Flaminian obelisk in 10 BC by Augustus to be used as a gnomon....", and in the last paragraph, it says, "according to Pliny, the original horologium had stopped working 30 years after its construction (that is by 47 AD)." One of "10 BC", "30 years" and "47 AD" has to be wrong. 30 years before AD 47 should be AD 17. Right? Did the obelisk sit in some warehouse between 10 BC and AD 17 before it was erected? I'm confused. --PFHLai 02:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Agree. The timespan from 10 BC to 47 AD would be 57 years; almost twice 30. I've left this article unedited because I don't know which of either Pliny or the quoted dates are correct. --KateH 18:38, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
