Oasis (horticulture)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oasis is a trademarked name for a spongy phenolic foam used for flower arranging. It soaks up water like a sponge and acts both as a preservative to prolong the life of the flowers and a support to hold them in place. It is usually green but also comes in many other colours such as purple, red, yellow, and brown. However, the coloured forms of oasis do take longer to soak up the water than the green form.[citation needed]

Oasis can be bought in arts and craft stores--particularly ones that feature large faux flower collections for creating your own flower arrangements. Sometimes cheaper alternatives can be bought in dollar stores.
