Oasis was an English classical music band formed in 1984. The group consisted of Peter Skellern, Julian Lloyd Webber, Mitch Dalton, Bill Lovelady, and Mary Hopkin.[citation needed]
Their debut album was called Oasis and was released on WEA along with two singles. A tour of the UK was planned for September 1984 and a new cellist Audrey Riley was brought in to replace Lloyd-Webber whose solo commitments forced him to leave. However, the tour was brought to an abrupt end because Hopkin became ill. The group disbanded shortly afterwards.[citation needed]
