Hello, all. Well, this is it. Finally delving personal information onto the Information superhighway so people can edit my page, change my life, and make up the facts as they go along (like desperate celebrities do on Larry King Live). Actually, the very thought is rather interesting; reinventing yourself. So, if you are feeling creative, rewrite my life as such: "I am Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht."
I will not say too much, for the simple reason that I desperately want to trust people—but these days, cannot. I currently reside in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania with a wonderful wife and two cats. Nuff said.
I like editing Wikipedia—a lot. Poorly written articles that lack any sort of punctuation or reference drive me batty. Not sure why; I guess it is the inherent laziness of many contributors and their need for attention. I just like reading about anything online. Wikipedia is a wealth of, more than anything, important input. Knowing that anyone can contribute is pure genius; the fact it is still something of a laughing stock (as it is mocked on such respectable shows as The Colbert Report and The Simpsons) means that more quality editors are needed. Until then, Wikipedia will be the encyclopedia that could be something great. I also try not—repeat not— to interject opinion, unless it is an OpEd. Wikipedia is facts, and quite a few articles are written in the form of a fan-based, opinion-laden piece. Are they enjoyable and readable? Yes, of course. But those are what blogs and fansites are for.
I have become a wikignome. I do my best to clean up and smooth out articles that are need of a little fine tuning. I will generally add something only if I have the source next to me.
[edit] Filmographies and such
I am an avid film and television enthusiast. I have worked hard to establish comprehensive, readable filmographies on the Three Stooges, Our Gang, The Pink Panther, Woody Woodpecker, etc. I just start many of these articles; please feel free to add to them.
In fact, one of the biggest thrills I get is creating an article (like the bulk of the Three Stooges' entries), and seeing contributors improve it. To me, that is a fine example of teamwork, and enhances the quality of the article. By no means do I assume that I am an expert. I just like to get the ball rolling and contribute as much as I can without overkill. What happens after the groundwork had been laid is up to public at large. As always, each and every entry is a work in progress.
