Oak Street (Vancouver)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oak Street is a major north-south street in Vancouver, British Columbia. The street runs from a three way intersection with 6th Avenue in the north (just south of False Creek) to the Oak Street Bridge in the south, leading towards Richmond. Once over the bridge, the route becomes Highway 99.
The Street has 6 lanes throughout its length except for the first 6 km south from its northern terminus, where it is 4 lanes wide. From north to south, it runs through a very busy commercial district, then by Vancouver General Hospital, then some very expensive Vancouver neighbourhoods, then to Marpole District, and into Richmond.

[edit] Trivia
If one drives south from the beginning of Oak Street at 6th Avenue and never makes a left turn or a right turn, one can travel all the way to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Oak Street becomes Highway 99, which in turn becomes Interstate 5 at the US-Canada border. Interstate 5 goes through Washington, Oregon, and California before becoming Mexican Federal Highway 1 at Tijuana. From there, the route still continues straight to the tip of Baja California and ends at the corner of Blvd. Marina right on the beach. This can be easily verified on Google Map.
