Oak Grove Lutheran School is a small private school in Fargo, North Dakota. It was founded in 1906. Oak Grove started as a one building school house that housed mostly Norwegian school girls. The dormitories that housed students was done away with in 2001. Any out of state or out of country student may now live with host families.

It started out as a small school teaching only women. It focuses on providing students education with a religious focus. Students from all over the world attend Oak Grove, as international students are welcomed each year. With classes for K-12 at two different locations in Fargo, ND there is a strong network for educational influence in the community. Athletics feature nearly all main sports, with most recent success in 2007 Oak Grove became Class AA State Champions. Class size is roughly 50 per grade from 7-12.

Each academic year, Oak Grove students demonstrate their acting abilities in a theatre performance.

Oak Grove encourages all students to be involved in extra-curricular activities and to feel a part of the overall school community. Opportunities abound for participation in extracurricular activities, especially in the Fine Arts.

Oak Grove's Fine Arts students are highly active in performing arts throughout the FM area. Many have gone on to have successful careers.

Fine Arts activities begin at the sixth grade level and include choir, band, speech, and theatre. With more than 80 percent of students participating, Oak Grove students excel in all Fine Arts activities.

Oak Grove’s outstanding music program provides opportunities from private instruction to performance and choir tour experiences. Students perform at numerous venues throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area and also host many events on campus.

Oak Grove is known for its outstanding choral program. Through the years, Oak Grove choirs have been invited to numerous state, regional and national conventions. In addition to tours and concerts on campus, Oak Grove choirs appear regularly before church and civic groups, and on radio and television.

Students may participate in choir as soon as they join Oak Grove. Choral opportunities at Oak Grove include:

  • Auditioned Concert Choir, grades 11-12
  • Chapel Choir, grades 9-10
  • Madrigals, grades 9-12
  • Auditioned Honor Choir, grades 7-8
  • Middle School Choir, grades 6-8
  • Grover Choir Squad, grades 4-5
  • Elementary School Music, K-5

High school choirs are directed by Aaron Zinter, the middle school choirs are directed by Roxanne Meinert and the elementary school choirs are directed by Kathy Lindquist.

Oak Grove Lutheran School has an exceptional music program. Students may participate in band starting in elementary school.

Oak Grove bands have many performances through the year and join with the choir for the annual Christmas Concert.

Oak Grove students may participant in the following bands:

  • Concert Band, 9-12
  • Jazz Band
  • 7th/8th Grade Band
  • 6th Grade Band
  • 5th Grade Band

Scott Muntefering directs Oak Grove’s Concert Band and Jazz Band. Roxanne Meinert directs the middle school bands. Kathy Lindquist works with the fifth grade students.

The Speech Team is active in the winter and spring and open to students in grades 7-12. The team has won and placed in the top four places at many local and regional tournaments. Many of those tournaments were class A schools and Oak Grove is only a class B School, which shows that they are serious competitors in speech in there region. Oak Grove's speech team has had many qualifiers, finalist and state champions at the State Tournament.
