[edit] Bus Connections

The following buses service the Oak Grove Station Busway:

  • 131 Melrose Highlands - Malden Center Station via East Side Melrose & Oak Grove (During rush hour, route 131 only services Oak Grove and omits Malden Center Station)
  • 136 Reading Depot - Malden Center Station via Wakefield, Melrose & Oak Grove
  • 137 Reading Depot - Malden Center Station via North Ave, Wakefield, Melrose & Oak Grove

The following bus route services Oak Grove Station on Washington Street, on the opposite side from the busway.

  • 132 Redstone Shopping Center - Malden Center Station via Stoneham, Wyoming Square & Oak Grove

The following bus routes formerly serviced Oak Grove Station:

  • 130 Lebanon Street, Melrose - Malden Center Station via Lebanon Street Melrose, Sylvan Street & Oak Grove

This route was discontinued in the early 2000's when the 106 extended to Franklin Square. The reason for the cease in service was a lack in ridership. The closure of this route allowed the service frequency of the 132 to improve from running at 90 minutes or better to 60 minutes or better. According to the MBTA, most people were not inconvenienced by the closure of this route.[4]

  • 135 Wakefield Square - Oak Grove Station via Wakefield, Greenwood & Downtown Melrose

This route was a shortened version of the 136 or 137 route. In most cases it did not service Malden Center Station and its northern terminus was Wakefield Square rather than Reading Depot. This route was a footnote on the 136/137 schedule until the MBTA decided in 2004 that it was better to renumber the route as various versions of the 136.
