Don't forget to judge the userpages

Hello V60, here is a reminder for you to judge the userpages in the contest. GreaterWikiholic 04:14, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Going to do that right now. (zelzany - fish) 19:36, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Madagascar

Er, what are you talking about? I didn't edit a Madagascar page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.245.141.14 (talk) 20:29, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

No, I didn't. The last thing I edited was on a Fullmetal Alchemist page, not Madagascar. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.245.141.14 (talk) 16:42, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I saw, your point? I didn't edit that Madagascar page. Like I said, the last thing I edited was related to Fullmetal Alchemist NOT Madagascar. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.245.141.14 (talk) 20:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Wait a second. My IP changed. My last edit is here [1], at the very top. See the IP address? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.245.141.14 (talk) 20:51, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

1. I said RELATED TO Fullmetal Alchemist, not Fullmetal Alchemist. 2. I linked you to the page I edited. I don't know how you missed that. 3. You do realize that people can share IP addresses, since they can change like mine does? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.245.141.14 (talk) 17:00, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, why didn't you say that?! We could have avoided all this. D= Now that we accept that that wasn't me, thank you for that signatures page that I'll be using in the future to avoid situations like these. 70.245.141.14 21:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Genesis (space station module)

On the page Genesis (space station module), my computer is rendering a huge space between the title at the top of the screen and the start of the article. Can you check it out? Perhaps it's just my PC. --myselfalso 00:36, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I see the large space as well. (zelzany - fish) 00:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I just looked at the page and the space has shrunk, but it's still there...obviously all those breaks within paragraphs is the reason why that's there. I'll stop by the Pump and check out the discussion. Thanks for the help! --myselfalso 01:20, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Maps

Your maps are nice, and I thank you for having the patience to make them. Would it be possible, however, to use a different projection, like the North American Lambert conformal conic projection? Maps like Image:U.S. Route 30 (PA) map.png are jarringly stretched horizontally. --NE2 19:32, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Qxz-ad45.gif

Hi, you seem to have reverted not only my new version of Image:Qxz-ad45.gif, but also an older tweak by the image's original creator, which seemed fairly uncontroversial. I re-did the template in response to complaints that some of the ads were too flashy; my version retains the wording, images and colours, and just changes the animation style a little. Feedback as to why my version is unacceptable would be appreciated, as would an explanation of the problem with the other change that you reverted. Thanks – Gurch 14:39, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Vishwin, the wording seems to go by too quickly now, I start to strain my eyes reading it. master sonT - C 15:33, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Vishwin, Thanks for signing up for the review team, and for reviewing a few articles. We released our first CD in April, which received a surprising amount of press coverage - this indicates that there is a lot of interest in what we're doing. Please help to make the next release even better! Let me know if you need some guidance, and be sure to take a look at the FAQ page and get started. Thanks, Walkerma 19:32, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Template:Infobox road

Hi Vishwin60,

Thank you for editting Template:Infobox road. As you might have notice, I am an inexperienced user with infoboxes. All I want to make is a multiplex parameter. How do you do it?

Smcafirst 14:45, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

You've done it, but there is no consensus for something like this, being highly controversial. The term "multiplex" should never be used because it is a neogolism. Concurrencies should be listed as double junctions in the box, or if they aren't major roads, not at all. (zelzany - fish) 16:40, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Even more, there was never a consensus for it existing, per the evidence. (zelzany - fish) 16:43, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:Map

If you would like to make, or find a map of Erie, PA, that would be wonderful.--trey 19:53, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:Wikipedia:Manual of Style (abbreviations)#Things to avoid

Not all of the infoboxes include the states. It's somewhat implied. Seems unnecessary to me. Additionally, considering the example you used, I've yet to see one infobox that included the state in each instance. If at all, it's always the first city. Subsequent cities are listed stand-alone. Does that make since? LaraLoveT/C 18:49, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

That does not make sense, because consider that the box on Interstate 90, U.S. Route 20 and some other extremely long Interstate and U.S. Highways having full state names. The boxes would be cluttered up so bad, that most readers would have a hard time reading the infobox, which is supposed to be a source for quick facts. See my sandbox for what I'm talking about.
To illustrate subsequent cities being listed standalone, it won't work, since place names are ambiguous (example Ardmore, Pennsylvania and Ardmore, Oklahoma). Let's say there's a highway that connects Philadelphia with El Paso that goes through both Ardmores and also has major junctions in both. It wouldn't make sense to just list both Ardmores in an ambiguous manner. (zelzany - fish) 19:08, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
I see what you're saying. The ones I've been editing are Texas and North Carolina. With the possible exception of one city, all are in the same state. As far as your sandbox example, that doesn't look confusing to me. Each city and state is on it's respective line. Possibly I'm using a higher resolution and others would see it broken between two lines, which I suppose could be confusing.
On a separate but related note, is there a reason that (from what I've seen) every city is wikilinked in the infobox (and often the article) regardless of how many times it appears? It seems unnecessary and, according to the MOS (which I realize is only a guide, but it makes since), words should only be wikified their first instance in an article... sometimes section. I typically stick with once in the info box and once or twice in the article, depending on length. LaraLoveT/C 19:20, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
IMHO, I don't care if place names are linked frequently; just at anyone's leisure remove redundancies if possible. However, the infobox should have linked places, as well as exit/junction lists as much as possible. (zelzany - fish) 19:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I'm not saying the places should not be listed. I just don't think they should all be wikilinked in every occurrence. Only once in the box and once or twice in the article. I removed the redundant wikilinking from some, but my connection is so slow right now, I just couldn't do more. LaraLoveT/C 20:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
