O'Reilly Open Source Convention

The O'Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) is an annual convention for the discussion of open source software, such as Linux, MySQL, Perl and Python. It is organized by the publisher O'Reilly Media and is held each summer in the United States.

• OSCON is the location for the biggest Perl conference each year. This is where the advances in Perl 6 have been described and outlined each year to prepare for the coming year work.
• This is also the location for the large annual PHP conference.
• Starting in 2003, there is now a Python conference.
• The Sun Grid Engine open source project was announced at the 2001 conference.
