O'Halloran (Ó h-Allmhurain, O'Halleron, Halloran, Haloran) surname is of Irish descent, which translates roughly into 'foreigner', as the name breaks down into 'from beyond the sea.' The family motto is 'Clann Fearghaile Abú.' This comes from the Galway branch, Clann Fearghaile, whose territory was extensive around Lough Corrib.
The name originates from Clare and Galway, with the Clare branch having links with the MacConmara clan.
