The O'Brien-class destroyers served in the United States Navy during World War I.

Similar to the Cassin-class and the Aylwin-class, O'Briens had the more powerful 21" (533 mm) torpedo tubes.

The O'Brien class ships were built in 1914 and 1915. All six ships served during World War I before being decommissioned in the early 1920's. A few of the ships were transferred to the United States Coast Guard to assist in enforcing Prohibition as part of the Rum Patrol. These ships were transfered back to the USN and were eventually scrapped in the early 1930s with the rest of their class as part of the London Naval Treaty of 1930.
