[edit] Happy Adoption Day!

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your recent adoption, O2mcgovem, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. Being an experienced editor myself, I accepted your request. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the person to see about it - just leave a message on my talk page. Remember, I am willing to help you and make your time here more enjoyable. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, and remember to "be BOLD!"- I'm here to help you; no question is a stupid one. In the mean time, here are some pages that you might find helpful, in case you haven't already gotten the official welcoming:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome and congratulations!

You've already been to my talk page once, but I thought I would leave you the link again to be safe.

I've actually never seen anyone ask the question about unprotecting their own user page before. I bet, however, that it happens fairly commonly. Normally page protections are handled by Administrators—ordinary editors (like you and me) with a few special powers—because they have the ability to unprotect pages. (Ordinary users, like the two of us, cannot.) Normally, page protections have to be requested (see WP:RPP). This is also the place you will need to visit to unprotect your page.

Here are the instructions (which I have modified for you):

  1. Add a level 4 header at the TOP of the unprotection list and place one of the templates from the table below within the header

Use: ===={{lu|O2mcgovem}}====

  1. A brief reason for your request may be placed below the header, but it is not needed.
  2. Sign your request with four tildes ~~~~ and save.

I do not know how long it takes for processing, but I think most page protections are handled pretty quickly, so I think page unprotections would be, too.

Good luck, and let me know how it all turns out.

As to the Scottish/Irish/Uncle thing, I'm not anybody's uncle, so I'm sure that your great uncle and I are not the same person. Also, California is a huge state (larger than many countries and most of the other states). That being said, it would be a fun coincidence if we did know each other. Feel free to e-mail me that type of information (rather than posting it in public view here for all the world to read).

It's nice meeting you, and feel free to ask me anything. Like I said on the adoption page, I've wrestled my way through a few Wiki snags, and I'm not the kind of person to deliberately break rules. There just happen to be a lot of them here, and it's easy to run afoul of some of the more obscure ones. Take care! --Willscrlt (Talk·Cntrb) 06:50, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ice cream

I just read your comment on your user page about the adoption. It made me laugh. :-) As to the ice cream, I'd be happy to help you edit such an article (or a zoo one). Did you know there is a WikiProject just for ice cream? If it's a topic (and a food) that you like, you might want to consider joining that project. In fact, if you join it, I'll probably be sucked into it, too, and help them get some templates and other things that project needs. I've been doing that in several of the Food & Drinks related WikiProjects. I just haven't had a chance to work with the Ice Cream one yet. It might be a fun place to get started. --Willscrlt (Talk·Cntrb) 23:37, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:ABI badge.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ABI badge.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Windows_ME_Movie_Maker_Icon.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Windows_ME_Movie_Maker_Icon.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. Rettetast 18:20, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

I wanted to thank you for looking through Sermons of Dean Swift. Sometimes its hard attracting people to such topics. If it was a Pokemon, there would be tons of help. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 19:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
