[edit] List of casualties of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan listed for deletion

An article that you have been involved in editing, List of casualties of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, has been listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of casualties of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. Please look there to see why this is, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

[edit] List of United States military history events

Hello NYCJosh, thanks for your continued edits to List of United States military history events please do not add more than a sentence to each entry on this list. I do not want to start an edit war on this page. Discussions on these military events should take place on the respective pages, not on this list. I share your POV, but I have been in edit wars with American apologists since October 2005, and have been working on this page almost as long.

Please see: Talk:List of United States foreign interventions since 1945 which I merged into List of United States military history events. The perspectives on these conflicts should be left to their respective talk pages, not discussed on this list. If we add long descriptions of each conflict, the list ceases to become a list. The nature of a list is very brief explanations.

I appreciate your continued hard work. Best wishes. Travb (talk) 17:31, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Please continue to add more information, I am facinated by your contributions. Don't let me discourage you! Thanks for this entry:

  • 1960s-1970s -- CIA support for Operation Gladio, a false flag terrorist campaign against civilian targets in Italy perpetrated by units controlled by Italian military intelligence and blamed on Italian far left groups. See Prime Minister Aldo Moro.

[edit] ref tags

Hey, I just came behind you and edited your references on two pages, wikifying them using ref tags. I am really happy that you are adding so many references. I do not want to discourage all of your fabulous efforts.

In the future, although it is not necessary (but it saves me time), if you could get in the habit of using ref tags, that would be great. Please see: User:Travb for the common ref tags I use.

I need to convert several of the old references that people added on both the CIA and List of United States military history events to the new ref tag format.

On the huge CIA page, I rewrite the article in sections, adding the tags when I rewrite the sections with references.

I wrote / completely rewrote:

Thanks for all of your hard work, I am excited about learning more about the CIA involvement in Iraq. I may ask you more questions about this in the future, and maybe we can write a page on this in the future, or modify an existing page.

[edit] Vandalism

In this edit you called User:Chaldean a vandal. Vandalism is a deliberate attempt to reduce the quality of the encyclopedia. This user may be being rude, but it's not vandalism. That's an important distinction to make. Cheers, --Mr. Billion 23:50, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] State terrorism by the United States of America

Please populate this article from materials you have added to the List of State Terrorism by countries. ThanksRaveenS 17:53, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

I did it for you, can you make it a better one as you seem to know more about the subject than me. ThanksRaveenS

[edit] Hey

Regarding your comment, calling the edit "weasel" I think you may mean unsourced. [1] thanks for joining in. On this edit. Travb (talk) 03:42, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name suggestion

As per what you wrote:

Upon re-reading the suggestions, I notice that Kalsemar may be switching to another proposal. I agree with Kalsemar and Travb that "allegations" is unencycl. In the interest of reaching agreement, if Kalsemar switches I don't want to be the sole holdout for this suggestion, and I'll switch to Political Violence by the United States, along the lines proposed by Travb. I think "US", as opposed to "American", because in this context "American" is not the precise term for designating the political entity known as the US gov't. We would have to disambiguate wars authorized by Congress, which could also be understood as political violence."

Could you voice your opinion at: Allegations_of_state_terrorism_by_United_States_of_America/strawpolls#Current_title. Travb (talk) 19:36, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reference tags

Hi. Thanks for the info and links you added to Casualties of the conflict in Iraq since 2003. Please finish the job. :)

Please add <ref> and </ref> to the beginning and end of the link info. And please include URL, title, author, publication, and date. You added these links:

(San Francisco Chronicle, March 19, 2007, http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/03/19/MNG06ONMIB1.DTL&hw=mental+health+civilians&sn=001&sc=1000 last visited 2007/3/19).

(Asia Times, March 20, 2007,http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/IC20Ak01.html .)

There is no need for the "last visited" info. I consider that a waste of wikipedia space. Some wikipedia nerd a long time ago probably thought that served a useful purpose. But hardly anyone who adds a lot of references uses it. Like me. It serves no purpose most of the time.

Combine the URL and title to make a clickable link. Like this:

[http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/IC20Ak01.html TITLE]

TITLE

Look at the other references to see what I mean. It is easy once you look at one. Here is one:

<ref>[http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-6436232,00.html "Iraq Contractor Deaths Go Little Noticed"]. By Michelle Roberts. ''[[The Guardian]].'' Feb. 23, 2007.</ref>

"Iraq Contractor Deaths Go Little Noticed". By Michelle Roberts. The Guardian. Feb. 23, 2007.

You can preview the reference links by not adding <ref> and </ref> until last. --Timeshifter 02:40, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I personally like the "cite" format so a link would be <ref>{{cite news|title=Iraq Contractor Deaths Go Little Noticed |publisher=The Guardian |date=February 23, 2007 |author=Michelle Robers |url=http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-6436232,00.html}}</ref> The good thing about this format is it puts things in the correct order for you. --SevenOfDiamonds 02:49, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Might be interested

I noticed that you took part in State terrorism by United States of America discussion for deletion. After the article has survived many deletions, you may be interested that there is a user right now who is deleting large portions of the article. 69.150.209.15 17:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sicko merger

Since you recently edited the Sicko controversies page, you might want express an opinion as to whether the article should be trimmed and merged with the main Sicko film page. You can do that here should you be interested. smb 19:45, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree absolutely. You should either vote to merge, in which case your edits to the article will likely be lost in the smaller version, or vote to keep, in which case there would be no smaller version for your edits to be lost in. ;) Noroton 21:28, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I modified my comments extensively on the allegations page, if you want to have a look. I have a feeling I am going to be attacked soon, as early as today, so I may need some verbal support from you and others. Travb (talk) 16:03, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
