Nyctibatrachus hussaini Krishnamurthy, Reddy & Gururaja, 2001[1] |
Nyctibatrachus hussaini is a species of frog in the Ranidae family. It is endemic to the Western Ghats of India.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and rivers in the Kudremukh region are threatened by habitat loss.[2]
The name is after the Indian ornithologist S. A. Hussain. An alternative name of Nyctibatrachus karnatakaensis was subsequently suggested,[3] but became the subject of considerable controversy as the standard zoological nomenclature practices were not followed by the journal and the authors.[4][5]
