NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship (Campeonato Mundial Semi Completo de NWA in Spanish) is a professional wrestling championship currently promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. It began as an official National Wrestling Alliance title but the title was given to the NWA's Mexican afilliate, Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (although it was also promoted in the Los Angeles, California circuit until its closure in 1981), and the title stayed there even after EMLL pulled out of the Alliance. Due to its history, it has been the most important title in EMLL/CMLL and, by extension, all of Mexico[1].

There was also a short lived version of the title recognized by the NWA in New Jersey in 1997 and 1998, however that version is in no way connected to the version promoted by CMLL.
