[edit] gloabl warming

i think you are being selfish in taking a position of opposition to global warming...many people on the planet would greatly benefit such as in canada or russia...i think you need to recognize that many scientists are taking a position that global warming is occuring...yet it helps many people out...it can actually be a good thing...we just need to figure out what to do with the polar bears...Benjiwolf 10:55, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Moving this to the Global Warming talk page, where it belongs. nut-meg 22:13, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re my typo apology: I apologise to you - I meant to name the other editor, lol :-)

I don't know if you caught my error, but I said in one of my edit summaries on the Schiavo page that I reverted your edit, but in fact it was a sweeping edit by another user, and I made a typo:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Terri_Schiavo&diff=104281750&oldid=103990774

where I wrote:

Revision as of 06:47, 30 January 2007 (edit) (undo)

(Rv edits by Nut-meg (talk) to last version by 71.141.252.50 Reasoning: Unless you can identify specifically your gripe, mass reversion is traditionally considered vandalism. Each edit looks ok. Revert) Newer edit →

Apparently, our fingers slip up once in a while, and since I can't change my edit summary, I figured to at least apologise to you, the person wrongly named -and no offense meant either to the other editor, but I was ticked when I saw her edit, and ...uh...made that typo, lol. Take care,--GordonWatts 09:13, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your opinion is sought about the Frank Caliendo article

An anonymous editor keeps adding what is in my opinion, extremely trivial information to the Frank Caliendo article. I am soliciting the opinion of other editors who have edited this article about the appropriateness of this "information" to the article. Please review the details at Talk:Frank Caliendo#Consensus about inclusion of specific football predictions and if you desire, add your thoughts to this section. Thanks --rogerd 17:59, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD

Saw your irrelevency at Mucho Grande. Problem now fixed with this simple edit. Please read the instructions on raising AfD's - yes I know they are complicated but there is no other way. -- RHaworth 08:02, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

In a message to several recent editors of Schiavo-related pages, I write that: Input is sought here: Talk:Government_involvement_in_the_Terri_Schiavo_case#Edit_War_between_me_and_User:Calton.

[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 04:54, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sam Brownback

Partisans have reverted your edits to the Sam Brownback article for no stated reason. Thought you might like to know. Jerimee 03:15, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I get so sick of those people. I kind of give up on the Brownback article. There are a few people that won't allow anything remotely embarassing to go on there, even if it happens to be true. nut-meg 06:41, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for contributing to the NPOV discussion. I hope you don't give up, and I know how you feel. Jerimee 17:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OI question

While I'm happy to share my knowledge as an researcher, I would preface by saying that any medical decisions should be made in consultation with your doctors who are likely to know a lot more about your specific situation.

Here in Australia, bisphosphonates are being increasingly used to treat OI to great benefit. Bisphosphonates decrease bone resorption leading to an increase in bone mass. However, they do not improve bone quality, which is why OI bones are brittle and break. Thus the decrease in fracture rate that is achieved with bisphosphonates is because the bone is larger, not "better" (does that make sense?).

Bisphosphonates have been getting a lot of bad press lately because of osteonecrosis of the jaw, which is a rare complication pretty much only seen in cancer patients on high dose bisphosphonates who have dental extractions. While I think OI children are a low risk of this, I'd talk to your doctor if you are on bisphosphonates and are getting a tooth removed. I haven't heard any reports of ONJ in children with OI, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

A colleague of mine who was involved with the Pamidronate work in Canada looked at bone turnover in OI children on long term Pam and found a large decrease in bone turnover. What he found was that while resorption was suppressed (which is good), over many years bone formation also went down (which may not be so good). Clinicians are now thinking about introducing "bisphosphonate holidays" into dosing schedules, to allow the bone formation side of things a chance to recover. Of course, I don't know of any formal programs that do this yet.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Pamidronate treatment. It is becoming increasingly common in many countries and at our hospital bisphosphonates are routinely given off-label to children undergoing orthopaedic procedures. In terms of side-effects, it is common to have flu like symptoms and dizziness after the first infusion. But this is due to gamma-delta T-cells (an immune response) and only happens the first time - afterwards, there should be no problems. The reduction in fracture rates with Pam can be quite dramatic.

Let me know if you have any other specific questions about OI or NF1.

[edit] Spells in Harry Potter

Hey, this article has been nominated for deletion again, would you mind swinging by and defending it as you did so staunchly last time? Looks like it could really use the help! GlassCobra 01:50, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

It is currently under a deletion review. Therequiembellishere 17:14, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Articles for deletion/Coast Run

The AfD discussion was improperly listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 August 21 resulting in two separate discussions being started, one on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 August 21 and one on the article own AfD page. The discussion has now been properly listed. Please add your comment again. Dbromage [Talk] 01:44, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Saddlebackcater.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Saddle.jpg. The copy called Image:Saddle.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 17:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Reynoldsdramatist.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Reynoldsdramatist.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Reynoldsdramatist.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Reynoldsdramatist.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:48, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Yellowchevparakeet.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yellowchevparakeet.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:14, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:72 aunt jemima.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:72 aunt jemima.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Image source problem with Image:Van vliet dussen.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Van vliet dussen.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:12, 23 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:72 aunt jemima.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:72 aunt jemima.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
