Nusaybah Bint k’ab Al Maziniyyah

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nusaybah Bint k’ab Al Maziniyyah was a convert to Islam who took part in the Battle of Uhud.[1][2][3] Initially, she was bringing water to soldiers and attending to the wounded, along with the other women.

At first, the battle was going in favor of the Muslims, but when the archers disobeyed an order from the prophet Muhammad, the tide of the battle changed, and it appeared that defeat was imminent. When this occurred, Nusaybah entered the battle, sword in one hand, bow in the other. She shielded Muhammad from the arrows of the enemy, and received several wounds while fighting.[4] Muhammad later remarked that "Wherever I turned, to the left or the right, I saw her fighting for me."[5]
