[edit] Ground transportation

The airport is located 7 km (5 miles) north of the city centre. The U-Bahn (Metro) line U2 connects the airport with the centre of the city every 10 to 15 minutes, and takes only 12 minutes to reach the Hauptbahnhof (Central Railway Station) and the nearby Altstadt (historic old town). Because of the airport's close-in location and its direct connections to local streets, it is possible to walk or ride a bicycle from nearby neighborhoods right up to the terminal.
