Nuphonic are a defunct independent record label that were based in London, England. The label was founded in 1994 by Sav Remzi and David Hill with the aim of releasing and promoting dance music that reflected their passion for Jazz, Funk, Soul and ethnic music.

Nuphonic released its first record in June 1995, Faze Action's Original Disco Motion, which instantly became a cult classic, followed by the cello-led disco track In The Trees. In the following years, the label went on to define the British 'Nu House' movement, earning itself a reputation as one of the worlds most important independent labels.

The company folded in 2002 due to a decline in physical sales, a result of the changing nature of the industry and shifting tastes of the buying public.

One of the founders on Nuphonic, Sav Remzi, has since set up his own imprint called Tirk Records.

[edit] Tirk records

In 2004 Sav Remzi, one of the founders of Nuphonic, had launched a new record label called Tirk Records. Within a very short time the label has received wide critical acclaim,[citation needed] particularly for having discovered the bands in New Young Pony Club and Fujiya & Miyagi. The Tirk roster also includes Maurice Fulton, Tom Findley (Groove Armada), Idjut Boys, Greg Wilson, Chaz Jankel, Martin Rushent, Drrtyhaze, Love Supreme, Sorcerer and many others.
