Number 10 Policy Unit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Number 10 Policy Unit is a body of political advisors and policy-makers in 10 Downing Street in the British government. Between 2001 and 2007 as part of the fusion between the Cabinet Office and Number 10 after the General Election in 2001 it merged with the Number 10 Private Office to form the Number 10 Policy Directorate[1]. Currently, Jeremy Heywood serves as Permanent Secretary of No.10, with Dan Corry Head of the Number 10 Policy Unit. On a day to day level it works closely with the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit in the Cabinet Office.
Previous heads include David Miliband and Andrew (now Lord) Adonis[2], before being enobled and made a Minister; others members have included Sir Michael Barber[1], Dr. Ros Altmann[3], and Geoff Mulgan[2].
