Talk:Nullity of Marriage Act 1971
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"there was fear expressed that someone could purport to be a member of the opposite sex in order to trap someone in a marriage." Sorry but I don't know what this sentence means. Does it mean that a man might pretend to be a woman in order to trick another man into marrying him, and that same-sex marriage was outlawed to prevent that? -86.133.247.156 21:13, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Basically yes. the fact that the debate in the House of Commons was at that level is barely believeable, but true. Catwhoorg 18:34, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
