Nuffield Foundation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nuffield Foundation is a British charitable trust, established in 1943 by William Morris (Lord Nuffield), the founder of the Morris Motor Company. The original purpose of the foundation was to "advance social well being", through both research and actual experiment [1].

The Foundation has income of about 9 million pounds a year[2]. All the income come from its own capital (?), so it is completely independent of individual donors and of Government. Most of its income is spent on grants.

The foundation gives grants under the following programmes[3].
