Key features include ease of installation, customisability, and an extensive control panel for both users, moderators and administrators. As this software is developed in PHP and MySQL, which are freely available, the forum software can work on most servers that support PHP and MySQL.

NuclearBB is easily customised, using HTML and CSS files in the styles directory.

The software allows the webmaster to modify the default theme through the flat files in the software. Alternatively, the webmaster can apply their own theme.
