thanks

Image:WikiThanks.png Greetings NSLE,
I wish to offer my gratitude supporting me on my recent nomination for adminship, which passed with the final tally of 65/4/3. If you would ever desire my assistance in anything, or wish to give me feedback on any actions I take, feel free to let me know. Cheers! Page move request

Would it be possible you move the page Hurricane Paul (1982) to Hurricane Paul? That would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hurricanehink 22:12, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! Hurricanehink 04:10, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Reverting?

I don't think that this was a good use of rollback. That edit was to his own userspace and not vandalism almost by definition. You explained on his talk page, but should have used an edit summary instead of admin-powers. Tread lightly. -Splashtalk 00:22, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Amount of Edits

With regards to your comment about my comment for Pgk's RfA, I just wanted to let you know that I know edits don't mean everything. I was just saying, "Hot damn, that's a lot of edits," because hot damn, that guy's got a lot of edits in a small amount of time. I have other reasons for the support, but most of them were already stated. Thanks :-), JHMM13 (T | C) 01:59, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Spanish People

I do have sources. read the talk page on the Germanic section. Please do not accuse me of not having sources for my claims. Thanks (24.60.161.63 05:41, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Anyways here are my "objective" sources:

http://libro.uca.edu/chaytor/hac3.htm

http://countrystudies.us/portugal/6.htm

http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/history/A0861819.html

http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761585089/Visigoths.html

What? what are you talking about I just gave the sources you oh so wanted. (24.60.161.63 05:57, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Ok i see what you mean. lol I just think hes trying to get his point of view across becuase i just got two other encylocopedias that are very creditable saying this information and other wikipedia pages say the same information.(24.60.161.63 06:01, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Thanks for the support though i apperricate it. =) (24.60.161.63 06:02, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Okay well the guy added a Citeation thing its not really need has he provided his sources or no? If not please do something to resolve this without having to single out Spaniards of course on the list.(24.60.161.63 06:25, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Why are you reverting my talk page?

?

okay but why cant i delete things with that dont have to do with warnings?

Okay what with the sockpuppet thing? wow are you trying to pick on me or something? (24.60.161.63 06:13, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

You cant put that on there that block was unjust i had it repealed. (24.60.161.63 06:16, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

But thats not fair because i was blocked by an unfair user and the admin even said so. So your telling me because this guy picked on me you gave me this tag? (24.60.161.63 06:21, 2 January 2006 (UTC))

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, NSLE/Archive 4, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work! --Celestianpower háblame 11:06, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Eddie

I know. I think Eddie's heart is in the right place, he just needs to learn a lot more about WP. I think he is beginning to catch on, but probably still needs some guidance. --rogerd 00:34, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Please Rectify Things For Me

I'd love to man, but apparently Snowspinner's out of control. He unblocked himself then blocked his blocker. Help me stay out of this.karmafist 05:14, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Vandal Yamamoto Ichiro

Actually nobody is misusing WP:AIV. I am not a sockpuppet, nor was I ever found to be a sockpuppet by an administrator, arbitration committee, or developer. User:Yamamoto Ichiro has taken it upon himself to continually deface my page with this designation despite repeated warnings not to do so. As such he is a vandal.Flavius Aetius 09:54, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

The Karma Prize

Heh, Esperanza would love that idea. I'll let them know in a bit, but first I should head over to AN/I. I'm talking to Essjay on IRC right now, and he's said it's gone insane, much like this place has been for the past several months apparently. karmafist 13:01, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

WHAT??

What are you talking about? I haven't made any. Tcatron565

Cat4 Hurricane Wilma

Storm colors

There was concern that there was not enough contrast between categories 3, 4, and 5. I posted a color scheme on the talk page (#24) which no one has commented on or responded to. I decided to WP:BOLD. Is there anything particulary wrong with my colors? —Preceding unsigned comment added by WolFox (talkcontribs) 04:27, January 4, 2006 (UTC)

My Request for Adminship

Greetings, NSLE! I wanted to sincerely thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with a final result of 55/14/3. While you voted neutral, I still hope you'll be content with the way I use my newly granted WikiPowers. If you have any questions or input regarding my activities, be they adminly or just a "normal" user's, or if you just want to chat about anything at all, feel free to drop me a line. Cheers! —Nightstallion (?) 07:59, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikibreak

I hope you have a relaxing wikibreak. If you feel the need to talk about any of your problems or concerns, don't hesitate to reply on my talk page or at Esperanza's new program. I hope to see you back editing soon! --TantalumTelluride 04:22, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Little advice

Sorry to bother you, but I think I've done something stupid. Yesterday I added some stuff to the article Mediterranean tropical cyclone, but the only sources I have are satellite images. Because it is more or less original research, should I remove everything I wrote in the article, link to where the satellite images can be found, or something else? And if I have to remove everything (I would be upset but I'll understand) could I keep it on my User page? Thanks in advance. Hurricanehink 12:40, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I moved it to a subpage of mine, and removed everything on the main page that I added. Sorry I added some original research to an article, and I hope to not do it again. 141.150.185.226 16:15, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi,
I just want to say thanks for supporting me on my request for adminship! It passed by a 58/3/0 margin, so I am now an administrator. If you need me to help you out, or you find that I'm doing anything wrong, please don't hesitate to contact me. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 18:42, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Juro's RfA

I reverted your removal of Juro's RfA because failure to answer questions is not a reason for removal. Failure to accept a nomination is, but it is up to the nominee if they want to answer the questions or not. This policy changed some weeks ago. All the best, --Durin 00:56, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

  • No worries. We all make errors. I've pulled a move or two too :) --Durin 00:57, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Gratitude to NSLE!

NSLE, much thanks for you support of my RfA! It is much appreciated, and in turn it is my earnest wish that the Boston Redsox and Liverpool F.C. should consistently smite down their opposition for your enjoyment! If there is anything I can do to be of service to you, please just let me know! Thanks again! Babajobu 01:15, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Block of User:SuperButchBitch

Hi, I was browsing the block list and I saw this block, by you (NSLE (talk contribs blocks protects deletions moves rights)) for "inappropriate username": Is this really necessary? And has her IP been blocked too so she can't even create a new account? I don't know her but this seems well, a bit over the top. There isn't any attempt visible by you to talk to the user or explain that she may be blocked first either, from what I can see.

I added Template:UsernameBlocked to the user page as there was no message, notice or warning left by you about her block.

I would like to point out that the username is not insulting anyone and "butch" is likely in context of butch and femme than anything else. --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 12:44, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

k sorry, I was in a rush (in hopes they'd see the message before possibly never coming back) and didn't think about it much --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 12:57, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey

Thanks for the welcome but I'm not new to the wiki concept. I had this user page for a while (do so some very erratic edits here) but hadn't filled it in yet. Will do so now. --Knootoss 01:35, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Eddie and Images

Common sense says that sort of "please do not abuse, please report abusinve uses" is probably OK in the image description page, as long as it's not part of the licence; it's an optional request that doesn't affect legal rights. I've moved it out of the ==licensing== section; perhaps that suffices? —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 06:48, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Will do. I'll nudge him toward GDFL again, as well, which is of course actually more restrictive than the tag he's using, as I understand it.... —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 06:52, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for your support on my request for adminiship, I'm sure you'll be glad to know the final result was 92/1/0. I am now an administrator and (as always) if I do anything you have issue with, please talk about it with me. --Alf melmac 08:55, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Pgk's RFA

Thanks for your support on my request for adminship.

The final outcome was (80/3/0), so I am now an administrator. I was flattered by the level of support and the comments, so I'm under real pressure not to disappoint, thus if you have any queries, suggestions or problems with any of my actions as an admin then please leave me a note --pgk(talk) 10:08, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

ArbCom vote

You have, but you didn't reply to either of them (check your talk page history). However, I've decided in advance that I am not going to discuss my ArbCom election votes for a number of reasons; the vote on your candidacy was exceptional in that I provided a reason at all. Good luck, though. -Splashtalk 00:50, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Re: AFD votes

Your AFD votes to move into user subpages many advertisement articles will definitely attract opposes to any future RFA as it shows you don't understand policy here. I suggest you STOP encouraging people to archive advertisement articles into perwsonal subpages. NSLE (T+C) 01:14, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Fine, only if You stop complaning about it and make peace and move on, I'll just vote "delete" to get rid of them. Archiving is up the the page creator. I'm not stupid and I don't like being taken for a fool. -- Eddie 02:55, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

No, because it'd probably get MFD'd. WP:NOT, Eddie, you still have a profound inability to understand this policy. NSLE (T+C) 03:02, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, then I won't mention archiving from now on, WP:NOT said it's not a personal webpage thing, is that what You're concerned about? -- Eddie 03:11, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

No, Eddie, Wikipedia is not a soapbox for advertising. Thta is the point Im making. NSLE (T+C) 03:12, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Then I'll just vote delete on ad articles, would that make You happy? -- Eddie 03:14, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

That would be the best course of action. NSLE (T+C) 03:17, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, agreed. Let's move on now. I need feedback for articles I added (and am working on): Deal Casino & Myrtle Avenue. I also feel good about My edits to Nick Arcade, turning a simple synopsis into a full detailed article with images. -- Eddie 03:20, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

William Connolley's RfA

Regardless how I found out about it, I would have voted the same way. I would have been annoyed to miss the chance to vote, so I'm thankful that SEWilco notified me. I don't have any problem whatsoever with other editors notifying me of any vote they think I might be interested in. I think dropping me a message on my talkpage is a lot more upfront and transparent than emailing me or any other method of gathering support. Grace Note 08:47, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

How would he be disrupting Wikipedia, to make a point or otherwise, if he messaged contributors who had voted in the previous RfA? Grace Note 08:52, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

I'm really sorry

I'm really sorry if you thought I was spamming the pages, please say the others, that I'm really sorry. Yes, it was for the tropical cyclones projesct. Please tell me what to do around here, because I'm a new member. juan andrés 00:58, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

I have decided to withdraw my nomination, due to growing oppose votes due to my lack of experence (and because of userboxes?). I will now aim to continue, and broadern my scope from userboxes. I will accept a nomination, should one be made, in 1-2 months. Ian13ID:540053 18:22, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Misnamed hurricane seasons

There are two misnamed hurricane season articles that i know of: 1971 Pacific hurricane season and 1980-81_Southern_Hemisphere_tropical_cyclone_season. Neither can be renamed to the correct name because a redirect already exists in that place. There is one user who has renamed both of these; I left him a message. Jdorje 20:44, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

personal attacks

Given you are running for arbcom, and nobody appointed you "remover of personal attacks," I find it troubling that you are taking it upon yourself to modify others' comments, and define what is and is not acceptable. Have you considered that you have actually made more edits to user talk and project space than you have to articles? And of the articles that you edit, you've averaged 3 edits per? I think you've lost sight (or never had it to begin with) of what the project is aiming to do. You seem to have taken up a political campaign, policing other users and pages, rather than actually contributing to the wikipedia. Of course, the first rule in a witch hunt is to always accuse your detractors of being witches. So I won't be offended if you call this a personal attack. However, it is my hope that the voice of reason in you will actually see some logic to the above, and maybe inspire you to head out to random pages, finding things to do. Or maybe even find a research project to take up on your own, and write a superb article on it. Avriette 02:34, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Just a quick note...

In the interest of full disclosure, I thought I'd warn you about a possible RfC against you. See the note on User talk:Pgio. I'm not sure if it will come to fruition, just thought you'd like to know (if you already didn't). Cheers. --LV (Dark Mark) 15:43, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Can you talk to Freestylefrappe?

Sorry to bother you, but if you know Freestylefrappe, could you please ask him/her to give me some kind of explanation about the 24-hour block he/she placed on me? The stated reason (suspected sockpuppet) didn't make any sense, as the user doing the sockpuppeting has been here about ten days, while I've been here about eight months. I have politely asked FSF for an explanation on his Talk page, but he won't respond and just deletes the questions. I only want to know what was going on. Thanks. Pgio 00:54, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

It appears, as shown by Flcelloguy, that I did block Pgio, but I vaguely remember the circumstances. My email: danofalltrades7@hotmail.com. Don't bother with the "Email this user" - for some reason that doesnt work with my username. freestylefrappe 01:45, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters

I was surprised to read your oppose vote. I am wondering if you'd be willing to clarify for me what issues you have? And let me know if there's anything I could do to help answer them?

Is your concern entirely that you believe WP:AUTO should be policy rather than only a guideline? I admit (and explain somewhat in my RfA) that I feel that this is overused even as a guideline. Still, as a reason to oppose, this would have you vote against adminship for Jimbo Wales, Angela Beesley, Larry Sanger or Alan Cox on the same basis. Actually, while Category:Wikipedian autobiography is very incomplete, I doubt that nearly any active Wikipedian who is also notable in the "outside world" would pass by such a standard. Ruling out anyone who is worth having an article on from adminship is, I guess, something I would oppose pretty strongly—so I guess one thing I cannot do to reassure you is promise not to edit the article on me, since I just don't endorse that principle. I can certainly promise not to violate WP:NOR or WP:NPOV should I make such edits (which I may or may not; I'm not planning on editing the page on me, per se), but then I guess I would promise that for any article I might work on. Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters 15:40, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Ditto on that. Just to let you know mate, Lulu has helped me out of several scrapes such as you have done in the past. He's definately a scrape helper outer, and as you and I have seen in the past, we've got alot of situations like that around here. Karmafist 04:30, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Mathbot business

Hi. Thanks a lot for blocking my bot who went nuts last night (my timezone at least). It was an old bug with local variables/global variables which got exponsed when I did some cosmetic changes last night which should not have caused problems.

The bot won't touch up RFA's until I am sure that everything is fixed. Once its block expires, it will go on doing its business in other areas where there are no bugs. Sorry for causing you trouble, and again, thanks for your response. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 16:54, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Re; Navbars

Not sure what you mean...are you saying that, like, the Talk:2K5AHS should have a link to Talk:2K6AHS? The main reason I did two navbars for the Southern Hemisphere 05-06 is because it's one article for two years (05-06), whereas all the other articles are only one year. I think I could figure a way to make the Talk:2K5AHS > Talk:2K6AHS idea work. -- RattleMan 01:39, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

The main problem with linking to the multiples is how to do it while still making it look visually appealing. I'm thinking, either have multiple links inside one word (like your name in sigs, the NS links to your userpage, while the LE links to Wikipedia:Esperanza), or have +/- signs which link to the correct page...confusing... -- RattleMan 01:57, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Your user page

You asked for suggestions on your user page. Well, I gave it a try at User:NSLE/NewPage.

I did not change much. Some formatting only. I did a lot of trimming though. I believe your page has way too much stuff, and not all of it is important. For example:

  • Userboxes are ugly. Better write a paragraph about yourself.
  • The links to sandbox could be on a subpage.
  • The signpost may not be so essential.
  • Some of the links are not so relevant.
  • The sections better be ==Section== than ===Section===

No, I don't expect you to adopt my changed page, but again, my main point is that by cutting things, and possibly moving things to subpages, your page could look nicer. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 03:15, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
